The Foundation is one of Melbourne’s longest serving philanthropic organisations, having been established by Lord Mayor of the day Sir John Swanson in 1923.
Each year the Foundation receives more than 500 applications for funding from charitable agencies providing care and support to people living in need and disadvantage. In 2010, the Foundation distributed $8 million to health and welfare agencies across Melbourne and Victoria.
The Foundation’s special focus on social issues such as homelessness, coupled with its ability to raise money, allows the Foundation to contribute greatly to the health and welfare of our community.
There are many ways in which you can support the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation. Make a donation, establish a charitable fund, leave a bequest or attend one of our special fundraising events.
Everyone can make a difference.
Remember a loved one and give to your community forever.
